Guillotine Dampers: An Intricate Design

Guillotine dampers, which are used on inlets, outlets, and bypasses, are essential parts of the design of some baghouse systems. Flexatherm caters to the different needs of different baghouse producers by providing these dampers as fully completed devices or as partial pieces. When the entire system is not required, Flexatherm offers the parts that are needed, like Guillotine discs, seating mechanisms, cylinder supports, shafts, and operators, to fit into the ductwork of the manufacturer.

Our Guillotine damper is unique and stands out from the competitors thanks to its unique design characteristics. We provide a seating ring with a sealing surface that is either precisely machined or blanchard-ground to provide the best possible closure. Furthermore, our Guillotine disc is designed to accept small misalignments prior to reaching its ultimate seating, improving the overall integrity of the seal.

Our standard shafts are made of 316 stainless steel, which has an excellent corrosion resistance. Additionally, we may create Guillotine designs specifically for bypass applications, which have a setup in which two discs are fixed to a single shaft. A vacuum or purge system can be used to reach a zero-leakage state.

We provide a patented Guillotine damper design for thermal oxidizers, especially those used to destroy volatile organic compounds (V.O.C.s). All Guillotine dampers manufactured in compliance with Flexatherm's specifications come equipped with a lockout mechanism that guarantees safety by locking the damper in both open and closed positions while maintenance is being performed, thereby averting unintentional injury.
